Workshop: “Gandhian Concept in Practice”

A dynamic and enlightening workshop titled “Gandhian Concept in Practice” was held on the 6th of September 2025 at Sarvodaya Hall, Jaffna. The event was organized by the Mahatma Gandhi Ashramam and brought together a group of enthusiastic undergraduate students from the Department of Philosophy, University of Jaffna, to explore the practical applications of Gandhian thought in contemporary society.

The workshop aimed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophical principles—particularly non-violence, truth, self-reliance, and social harmony—and to discuss their relevance in addressing modern social and ethical challenges. Through interactive sessions and group discussions, students were encouraged to reflect on how Gandhian ideals can be translated into daily life and community development.

A total of nine Philosophy undergraduates from the Department participated in the program and actively contributed to the discussions and activities. Their engagement demonstrated a strong interest in applying philosophical ideas to real-world contexts.

The event served as an inspiring opportunity for Philosophy students to connect classical philosophical concepts with practical social action, fostering a sense of responsibility and purpose aligned with the vision of Mahatma Gandhi.
