The event aimed to provide current students of philosophy with valuable insights into how philosophical knowledge can shape and support successful careers across various fields.

The session featured two distinguished alumni as resource persons: Mrs. Subagini Mathiyalagan, who currently serves as the Divisional Secretary of Sandilipay, and Mr. Mariyampillai Mariyaselvam, Chief of Child Protection in Afghanistan. Both of them are philosophy graduates from the Department of Philosophy, University of Jaffna, and shared their unique career journeys, offering inspiring perspectives on how their philosophical education has been a cornerstone of their professional achievements.

Mrs. Mathiyalagan highlighted how critical thinking, ethics, and philosophical reasoning have been crucial in her role as a Divisional Secretary, particularly in decision-making processes and addressing community challenges. Mr. Mariyaselvam, drawing from his work in international child protection, emphasized the importance of humanistic philosophy in understanding human rights, compassion, and justice, which have been key to his success in humanitarian work.

The interactive session was well-received by the audience, comprising current philosophy students. The participants actively engaged in the discussion, asking questions about how philosophical principles can be applied in real-world situations and seeking advice on navigating diverse career paths.
