On 3 October 2025, the Department of Philosophy at the University of Jaffna officially announced the appointment of M.T. Thileepan as its new Head. The hand-over ceremony was marked by the outgoing Head, A. Rajkumar (who held the position from 3 October 2022 until 2 October 2025), formally passing the department’s key to Mr Thileepan.

Former Head (3 Oct 2022 – 2 Oct 2025):
A. Rajkumar has served as Head of the Department of Philosophy since 3 October 2022 and led the department through a period of growth and development across teaching and research.

Incoming Head (from 3 Oct 2025):
M.T. Thileepan, currently a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Jaffna, assumes the leadership role.
