Workshop on: “Finding Your Path – Exploring Purpose, Passion, and Possibility in Philosophy and Psychology”
The Philosophical Society of the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna, successfully organized a workshop titled “Finding Your Path: Exploring Purpose, Passion, and Possibility in Philosophy and Psychology” on the 13th of August 2025 at 2.00 p.m. The event was held at the Psychology Lecture Hall (Room 308).
The session was conducted by Mr. K. T. Brownsen, a distinguished academic and motivational educator, holding qualifications in B.A (Hons), PGDE, PGDSNE, and M.Ed. He served as the resource person for the workshop. The event was coordinated by Mrs. T. Gorden, Senior Lecturer in Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna.
The Head of the Department of Philosophy, Mrs. A. Rajkumar, graced the occasion and delivered an inspiring remark at the opening of the session. In her address, she highlighted the importance of guiding students to identify and pursue meaningful career paths in both Philosophy and Psychology.
The workshop primarily focused on exploring career pathways available to students of Philosophy and Psychology under the theme “Finding Your Path.” Mr. Brownsen provided valuable insights into how philosophical and psychological knowledge can be applied in various professional fields, including education, counseling, research, and community development. He encouraged students to recognize their unique strengths and align their passion with potential career opportunities. His interactive presentation inspired participants to reflect on their future aspirations and the practical relevance of their academic disciplines.
The event witnessed the active participation of undergraduate students and academic staff from the Department of Philosophy and the wider Faculty of Arts. Participants expressed great appreciation for the relevance and motivational nature of the session. The workshop concluded successfully with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the resource person, the encouraging presence of Mrs. A. Rajkumar, and the dedicated coordination of Mrs. T. Gorden, whose efforts made the event both insightful and memorable.
