Sharing Session - “Philosophy in Practice”

The Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna, successfully organized a sharing session on the theme “Philosophy in Practice” on the 22nd of August 2025, from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. The event took place at Lecture Hall 308 of the Department of Philosophy.

The session was graced by Emeritus Professor N. Gnanakumaran, former Dean of the Faculty of Arts and former Head of the Department of Philosophy, who served as the resource person. His extensive academic experience and deep philosophical insight made the session both engaging and thought-provoking.

Professor Gnanakumaran shared his reflections on how philosophical knowledge can be meaningfully applied in everyday life, education, and social contexts. He emphasized the significance of bridging the gap between theoretical philosophy and practical human concerns, inspiring participants to view philosophy not merely as an academic discipline but as a way of living.

The session was attended by academic staff members and undergraduate students from the Department of Philosophy. The discussion segment allowed participants to raise insightful questions, fostering an interactive and stimulating exchange of ideas.
